While the Twenty20 final has already been set, overall competition points are still up for grabs and Shellharbour captain Ned Taylor knows a positive result is vital if his team is to secure a top-four finish.
“Every game now leading into the rear-end of the season is very important,” Taylor said. “In terms of the Twenty20 comp, it may be seen as a dead rubber, but it is definitely not that.
“It’s an important opportunity to build momentum going into the back half of the season with the rest of the two-day competition.”
The match will form the first half of a double header for Kookas, with the side also facing Kiama/Gerringong later in the afternoon.
Taylor views the clash as an important opportunity for his side to put forward an all-round display against one of the better teams in the competition.
“We’ve been a little bit inconsistent since the turn of the year. We’ve played some fairly good cricket in patches, but let ourselves down in the important moments. Our last game against Oak Flats, they won most of those mini battles within the game.
“We have to play a more consistent brand of cricket and put everything together on the day.”
