The odd, school yellowfin has made a very welcome appearance too from offshore Sydney to down off Jervis Bay. There is a good looking patch of water straight out the front of us at present that will no doubt be well reconnoitered this weekend and should be within trailer boat range. Closer to home, the foul weather hasn't deterred many fishos and those that chased snapper have found excellent fish in depths from 25+ metres with some solid fish in the schools.
Some of the reds were upwards of 4 kilograms and were taken this week out over 50m depths by working the edges of bait schools.
Bonus bycatches were excellent large blue mowies, the odd, delicious pearl perch and plenty of big blackspot pig fish.
There have been plenty of bonito, tailor and salmon around as well as some good-sized kings for those trolling the Islands and bommies up and down the coast with some of the kingfish going over the magical 10kg.
Bonito, sizable tailor and pacific salmon to 2kg plus, have been everywhere which has been great for the start of school holidays with lots of youngsters getting plenty of fish whilst the rain has been holding off.
Beaches have been fishing well, even after the deluge with plenty of good bream about especially after the rain.
Salmon and tailor have been plentiful at dawn and dusk and flathead and whiting are still in relatively good numbers, with fresh beachworms and pipis doing the damage.
