Victoria has equalled the number of pedestrian fatalities it recorded for all of 2021, following the death of an elderly man crossing a Melbourne street.

The 85-year-old was struck by a Hyundai sedan in Coburg about 7am on Tuesday.
He died at the scene.
Pedestrian deaths in Victoria in 2022 stand at 28 and are up in both regional and metropolitan areas, with 10 fatalities recorded in June alone.
Police say the five-year average to July is 19.6, with 28 pedestrians killed in total last year.
They are urging people to take extra care during winter, which is deemed to be high risk due to poor weather and reduced visibility.
"The fact we've already equalled pedestrian deaths for all of last year is truly tragic," Acting Assistant Commissioner Justin Goldsmith said.
"Inattention is a key factor in pedestrian fatalities. Motorists need to remain focused behind the wheel and avoid distractions, and pedestrians need to look up, pay attention to the road and ensure it's safe to cross before doing so."
