The incident unfolded on the street outside an address at Rothwell, north of Brisbane, just before 9.30am on Monday.
Police say the 50-year-old officer was stabbed in the shoulder by a man with a knife shortly after arriving on the scene.
"I've viewed the body-worn footage of the incident and it happened in a matter of seconds," Detective Inspector Ben Fadian told reporters on Monday.
A police car was also damaged when the man allegedly jumped on it prior to the attack.
Responding officers drew a firearm and taser as they tried to subdue the man, and the taser was used before the man was taken into custody.
He was taken to hospital with a stomach wound and remains in a stable condition under police guard.
The man has not been charged and police investigations are continuing.
The wounded officer is also in a stable condition in hospital where he's being supported by family and friends, Det Insp Fadian said.
