From gooey sticky date puddings to luscious cheesecakes, the Australian factory in Lisarow, NSW has been producing sweet treats since 1971 with around 200 staff.
"We are immediately commencing a process to sell or restructure the business and continue its long history of manufacturing in Australia," FTI Consulting senior managing director Vaughan Strawbridge said.
Mr Strawbridge, Kathryn Evans and Joseph Hansell of FTI Consulting were appointed as voluntary administrators of Sara Lee Holdings Pty Ltd on October 17.
The dessert giant was bought for an estimated $95 million from McCain Foods by a New Zealand-based private equity firm South Island Office in 2021.
"We are working with Sara Lee's management team and staff to continue operations while we secure the future of the business," Mr Strawbridge said.
