Ferrari has launched a subscription-style battery warranty program for its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models in an effort to preserve the longevity and resale value of its electrified models.

The two extended warranty programs, named Warranty Extension Hybrid and Power Hybrid, are multi-year packages available to all SF90 Stradale and Spider plus 296 GTB and GTS owners.
The only stipulation is that out-of-warranty examples must first be inspected by a Ferrari mechanic.
In addition to the five-year warranty currently attached to hybrid components of Ferrari's PHEVs, the WarrantyExtension Hybrid program extends coverage up to eight years of ownership, at which point Ferrari will replace the high-voltage battery pack (HVB) without charge.
The Power Hybrid program extends the warranty from eight years to 16, which also culminates in an end of warranty battery replacement.
Both warranty programs can be renewed at two- or four-year intervals.
Ferrari says the new warranty programs stipulate the use of the newest available battery technology, and both are transferable between owners.
The subscription also covers defects unrelated to the battery pack.
Ferrari hasn't quoted prices for either battery swap offering, although Bloomberg previously reported a starting figure of £7000 (A$11,250) per year.
The outlet reported Ferrari is introducing this program to quell concerns over depreciation for its plug-in hybrids and its upcoming EVs, which will also be backed by the same after-sales offering.
The first Ferrari EV is due to be revealed in 2025, with recent reports suggesting it'll wear a €500,000 ($804,000) price tag.
